چکیده
The microstructure of additively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) produced by a laser powder bed fusion process was studied during post-build heat treatments between 1043 K (770 °C) and just above the β transus temperature 1241 (1008 in situ using high-energy X-ray diffraction. Parallel studies on traditionally wrought annealed Ti64 were completed as baseline comparison. initial final grain structures characterized electron backscatter Likewise, texture, dislocation density, texture determined with evolution microstructure, including phase evolution, internal stress, qualitative vanadium distribution constituent phases monitored as-built material single-phase hexagonal close packed (to measurement resolution) fine acicular structure exhibited high density intergranular residual stress. Recovery annealing stress observed to initiate concurrently at relatively low 770 (497 °C). Transformation initiated roughly 913 (640 °C), after recovery had occurred. These results are meant be used design resulting specified microstructures properties.

Laser powder bed fusion of Ti-6Al-4V parts: Thermal modeling and mechanical implications
A continuum-scale modeling approach is developed and employed with three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA), for simulating the temperature response of a Ti-6Al-4V, two-layered parallelepiped with dimensions of 10×5×0.06 mm during Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), a metals additive manufacturing (AM) method. The model has been validated using experimental melt pool measurements from the l...

Laser cladding process was performed on a commercial Ti-6Al-4V (α + β) titanium alloy by means of tungsten carbide-nickel based alloy powder blend. Nd:YAG laser with a 2.2-KW continuous wave was used with coaxial jet nozzle coupled with a standard powder feeding system. Four-track deposition of a blended powder consisting of 60 wt % tungsten carbide (WC) and 40 wt % NiCrBSi was successfully mad...
متن کاملHeat Treatment of Ti-6al-4v Produced by Lasercusing
LaserCUSING® is a selective laser melting (SLM) process that is capable of manufacturing parts by melting powder with heat input from a laser beam. LaserCUSING demonstrates potential for producing the intricate geometries specifically required for biomedical implants and aerospace applications. One main limitation to this form of rapid prototyping is the lack of published studies on the materia...
متن کاملEFFECT OF SHORT HEAT TREATMENT ROUTES ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF TI-6AL-4V ALLOY
In this research, the effect of annealing and aging temperature as well as the effect of quenching media on the microstructure, hardness and dry sliding wear behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy has been studied. Cylindrical samples with the diameter of 10 mm and the height of 20mm were solutionized at 930˚C and 1060˚C for 600 seconds and then were quenched in the cold water and in the air. The samples ...
متن کاملSelective Laser Melting Produced Ti-6Al-4V: Post-Process Heat Treatments to Achieve Superior Tensile Properties
Current post-process heat treatments applied to selective laser melting produced Ti-6Al-4V do not achieve the same microstructure and therefore superior tensile behaviour of thermomechanical processed wrought Ti-6Al-4V. Due to the growing demand for selective laser melting produced parts in industry, research and development towards improved mechanical properties is ongoing. This study is aimed...
